Method
- In a bowl, add flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix to combine.
- In the middle of the dry ingredients. Make a hole and pour the warm water and oil. Mix the dry and wet ingredients until fully combined. Note: If the dough feels sticky or dry, continue mixing until it is soft. Try to avoid adding flour or water.
- First rise:Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape and second rise:Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for 30–45 minutes or until the dough rises about an inch above the pan.
- Bake:Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Bake for 5 minutes.Adjust the temp to 350°F (176°C). Bake for another 5 minutes.Adjust the temp to 300°F (148°C). Bake for 30 minutes.
- Cool and enjoy:Remove from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy warm or toasted!
