There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread filling your kitchen. This easy loaf bread recipe is soft, golden, and perfect for everyday use — from morning toast to hearty sandwiches. With just a few simple ingredients, you can bake a warm, homemade loaf that tastes as comforting as it looks.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil or your preferred oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method

  1. In a bowl, add flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix to combine.
  2. In the middle of the dry ingredients. Make a hole and pour the warm water and oil. Mix the dry and wet ingredients until fully combined.
Note: If the dough feels sticky or dry, continue mixing until it is soft. Try to avoid adding flour or water.
  3. First rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Shape and second rise:
Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for 30–45 minutes or until the dough rises about an inch above the pan.
  5. Bake:
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Bake for 5 minutes.
Adjust the temp to 350°F (176°C). Bake for another 5 minutes.
Adjust the temp to 300°F (148°C). Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Cool and enjoy:
Remove from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy warm or toasted!
